Since you've left, are you still good friends with your bestest JW buddies?

is it possible that someone has a jw friend who's very active in the congregation, knows you don't believe it anymore, and is still your friend?

i'm at the point where word is getting out that i'm not going to meetings anymore, and friends ask me if they'll be seeing me at the ca and i tell them i'm not going.

they want to know why, and what they can do to encourage me.

Julia i feel each time i have left an organisation the friendships have with time faded, be it school, work, or the witnesses.

I accept association in the witnesses was largely based on acceptance to dogma and witness activity. As for friendships surviving without that association, i am not disfellowshipped, but marked and not good assocition. As for feelings of friendship, yes i think on both sides ( mine and theres) these have survived.I call my witness friends who tradesman if i need a plummer or windows cleaned and we get on just fine and the subject of religion is avoided.

I think friendships based on a commom interest will grow apart if that common interest is in conflict. I am pleased that in many cases the friendships i have had have been proven stronget than W.T association. These positive cases have not been with any of the elders.

i would love to be able to debate some of the issues on this site.. this is the first site i have debated on.. i would like to debate with credibility.. i think i debate on only what i feel secure about, and that is a good start.

but on this thread i would appreciate some tips on how to constrctively debate on a thread..

Thanks Julia.....i think your advice might be what it takes as someone credible enough to do lectures. I have noticed in your posts a pleasant personality and i think this is important. I noticed a lot of debating on this site can become controversial, and i love it when posters use comedy to get there message across.

Also a pleasant debate requires thinking on each posters viewpoint. Thinking is its own reward. Something we were denied as witnesses.

Anyway two weeks on this board and oouch i now have good reason to believe the invitation to " follow me" came from Creek mythology.That the paraballs spoken attributed to jesus did not originate from him.

So who do i follow what label shall i call myself? Well i think at best i am a voice of reason inside myself. And i believe this voice of reason has the answers if i calm down and listen to it. And what is that voice of reason? well i hope its logic and reason balanced with compassion and love.

cantleave we do not exist through ourselfs alone but through the enviroment that shapes us, that influences our thinking and is our moral compass. Of course sometimes we have someone to say that moral compass is wrong, women are equal to men,homosexuality is not evil, and we bend with new thinking.

How can the God of the bible be my moral compass that would make me a tyrant. So tell me how do i find God in my life.

so i've heard of cases where individuals got df'd for writing to the wtbs...but are their cases where individuals have written and actually got a reply to their questions without any repercussions?.

Well Kool Jo i can imagine if a interested person attending meetings wrote a letter asking questions the reply would be positive.

I can imagine donated money sent to the Society teceive favourable replys.

Trouble with lettets which disagree is that the society understands if you dont agree 100% to teaching and doctrine you become dangerouse. Even if you agree 99% that one% you have problems with must be corrected. I think its called having your thinking reajusted in a loving way.

Same with baptisam its 100% agreeance with doctrine or no baptisam. When baptised kiss indepenting thinking goodbye.

to answer some of your questions.

i phone my son on thursday and was able to help him get his paper work in order for, get this: "college".

we're good.. the wife and i have about 10 family members that are jw's as well as over 12 close friends, 100's of friends in 5 states.

Yea...well i must admit id get his point about football, if hed said not to play the game. But not to watch why thats crazy, watching is civalized. Its as civalised as watching Jehover ' blow up the entire world thats not baptised ...now thats something the guy would love to watch sat at home on his T.V screen. China wiped out at 6pm tonight, tomorrow the final mission for peace and thats India gone..no tolerance this ' ethnic clensing' will contine Cathelics on wednesday and muslims on friday,and if thats not graphic and appalling enough the finalie its all your friends that arnt baptised blown up and eaten by birds....

- info regarding a teaching that one does not understand, where should the letter be addressed to and to whose attention should it be presented?.

So there you have it Christians. And if you dont believe it, just listen to Jesus himself. ' i came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentence'

and i dont think this calling has anything to do with pushing dogma and theirs only ONE WAY. Sorry Adopted Christians there will be no fire and brimstone from the sky for those who dont think like you.

My Aunts Quacky i mean a Quaker and shes a follower of Christ...but so too is Tom Brown whos shooting heroin into his eyeballs . ..as is anybody who loves there neighbour no matter how generally messed up they are.
